Lead the world’s number one BFT studio
BFT St Kilda is looking for an experienced, driven and people-focused fitness professional to step into the role of Full-Time Head Coach.
This is not just another coaching position.
You’ll be leading a high-performing team at a studio that has been recognised as the number one BFT studio in the world for two consecutive years - 2024 and 2025.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, genuinely cares about people and wants to build a long-term career within one of BFT’s most experienced franchise groups.
The opportunity
As Head Coach, you will become one of the key faces of BFT St Kilda and play a major role in protecting and building the culture that has made the studio so successful.
You’ll lead from the front on the coaching floor, set the standard for the wider training team and ensure every member receives an exceptional experience - from their first session through to becoming a long-term part of the community.
This is a hands-on position, with the majority of your time spent coaching, connecting with members and developing the team. You’ll also work closely with the Studio Manager and owners on staff development, member retention, sales and the continued growth of the business.
What you’ll be responsible for
Delivering energetic, engaging and technically excellent BFT classes
Setting and maintaining a consistently high coaching standard
Leading, mentoring and developing the studio’s coaching team
Providing clear feedback and helping coaches continually improve
Creating an environment that feels welcoming, inclusive and non-intimidating
Building genuine relationships with members and understanding what motivates them
Supporting new members through trials, onboarding and their early training experience
Contributing to member retention, referrals and studio growth
Ensuring sessions are safe, professional and delivered in line with BFT programming
Working closely with the Studio Manager to maintain strong team culture and daily studio standards
Assisting with staff meetings, education sessions, performance testing, events and community initiatives
Taking ownership and treating the studio as though it were your own
About you
You are more than someone who can run a good class.
You understand that great coaching means being present, knowing your members, correcting technique, adapting movements and helping people achieve things they didn’t think were possible.
You can bring energy without becoming a cheerleader. You are confident leading a room, but self-aware enough to keep learning. You communicate clearly, hold people to a high standard and know how to bring the best out of both members and coaches.
You’ll ideally have:
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a team
Strong group training experience
Excellent exercise knowledge and coaching ability
Experience building relationships and retaining a client or member base
Confidence providing feedback and maintaining accountability
Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills
A professional, reliable and team-first attitude
Certificate III and IV in Fitness, or a higher relevant qualification
Current First Aid and CPR
Availability across a combination of early mornings, evenings and weekends
Previous BFT experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential for the right person.
What we provide
A full-time leadership position at the world’s number one BFT studio
Competitive remuneration based on experience
Performance incentives and opportunities for progression
Ongoing mentoring directly from an experienced ownership team
Structured professional development and coaching education
The opportunity to work alongside some of the best coaches and managers in the network
Support from a wider group of five established BFT studios
Clear pathways into senior coaching, management and broader leadership opportunities
A complimentary BFT membership
Discounted memberships for friends and family
A strong, established member base and an incredible studio community
The opportunity to have a genuine influence over people, culture and business performance
About BFT Southside
BFT St Kilda is part of BFT Southside, a group of five studios across Melbourne, including St Kilda, Prahran, South Yarra, Camberwell and Bentleigh.
Our owners were BFT’s first-ever franchisees and have been part of the brand since its earliest days. Over the past decade, we have built a team of more than 30 staff and communities that thousands of members have been proud to call home.
Our goal has always been simple: to create gyms that feel welcoming rather than intimidating, with strong culture and coaches who genuinely coach.
We take staff development seriously. We want our coaches to continue learning, take on greater responsibility and build meaningful careers within the fitness industry. Many of our leaders have progressed through the business, and we are committed to creating those same opportunities for the next generation.
