About the UUSC

The Union, University & Schools Club, located in the Sydney CBD, is one of the oldest private registered clubs in NSW. The Club has two premises - a Clubhouse and a Health Club.

Membership is by invitation of existing members and all candidates must successfully complete the Club’s nomination procedure before election to membership.

The Health Club offers a lap pool, spa, squash courts, cardio and weights rooms and a variety of fitness classes. We provide members with a quality workout experience in a safe and friendly environment with no pressure selling of services.

As Health Club Manager you will:

  • Report to the Club Secretary and be accountable for the operations of the Health Club.
  • Lead and motivate the existing Health Club team to provide exceptional customer service and to promote a positive club culture.
  • Be responsible for the upkeep and timely maintenance of all Health Club assets.
  • Drive growth of membership through choices of services and offerings
  • Assist in securing nominations and welcoming new members.
  • Identify engagements and opportunities to improve service offering.
  • Provide content and manage social media in accordance with Club protocols to nurture, support, encourage and expand the Health Club community.
  • Attend committee meetings to report on the status and management of the Health Club.
  • Establish and maintain written procedures and protocols for the Health Club.
  • Maintain necessary documentation and records of members and staff.
  • Undertake Health Club staff appraisals to identify opportunities for professional development.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar environment. (3 years minimum)
  • An approachable personality and an ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Ability to work proactively within a team environment to meet business and role objectives.
  • Certificate IV in Fitness, current Senior First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Knowledge and understanding of fitness industry legal rules and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Experience in implementing and adhering to systems and procedures including managing personal data, account management and budgets.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends when necessary.
