Give it the personal touch when reaching out to our registered professionals...
We caution against sending the same message to multiple candidates.
This is what job ads are for. Candidates expect that.
In a direct message, though, it can look spammy and fail to inspire a response from candidates.
From a recent post on ‘How to Approach Passive Candidates‘ by Seek.
“Candidates were potentially annoyed when contacted by recruiters... if they believed the recruiters were “lazy” by sending out mass messages, were impersonal, or weren’t genuine because they didn’t follow through on their initial message.”
Seek also note that candidates appreciate personal connection, getting a response to emails, provision of insight and professional development advice and knowing that you are friendly, reliable trustworthy and honest.
So, use your database access to do what we can’t...
Connect personally with an individual about the available role and the nature of your business.
First impressions count.
Keep in mind that the candidate might never have heard of you or your available job. Without a personal approach, you could potentially lose the opportunity (just like when you're trying to secure a new member).
Take the opportunity to connect, one to one.
Let professionals know that their values, your passion and can relate to the mission of your business. Let them know why you’ve singled them out…
Hi, [name of candidate].
I saw your profile on HealthyPeople and notice we share an enthusiasm/experience in [population/discipline/training style]. We're currently recruiting and would welcome the opportunity to show you through our facility and provide details on the available role?
You can contact me directly on [number/email]. I hope to hear from you soon.
Regards, [name].
Why might this approach be more successful?
You’ve addressed the person by their name and identified why they might enjoy working in your facility. You’ve also provided your direct contact details. Their first impression of you is going to be one of respect and making them feel valued – if you’re intention is to stand out among the competition as an employer of choice, this is certainly a step in the right direction.
‘But I need staff now!’ you say. ‘I’ve not the time for this.’
If you’ve neither the time nor the interest in a personal approach, just post an ad!
We’ve done a lot to make our job advertising service as effective as possible.
Ongoing recruitment is at the heart of all successful businesses.
Regular contact with professionals in your area provides you with the greatest chance to build the most profitable team possible. And when you tailor your approach to individual candidates, even those not ready for a role right now may become an easy placement in the future.
